This is an angel taken from a study I did for a larger piece of the French tale Beauty and the Beast.

It is a story of great sadness at the vanity, selfishness and unfairness of a Prince, which cause a fairy to curse him for his behavior. I think there is great sadness in heaven as angels look down on us, our vanity, and our selfishness, but also mourning with us at the losses we incur because of the actions of others.

Pen and ink with guache and acrylic washes.
